Boy riding dirt bike critically injured after head-on crash with pickup

A boy riding a dirt bike is in a critical condition after being involved in a head-on crash with a pickup truck.

The collision happened just after 3:30 p.m. on the 2700 block of 172nd Avenue NW in Andover, per the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

When responders arrived, they found the boy critical and unconscious.

"Early indications show a Ford F350 truck driven by an adult male crashed head on with a dirt bike driven by a juvenile male on 172nd Avenue NW," the sheriff's office said.

After lifesaving efforts were performed, the boy was airlifted to HCMC.

The pickup driver, a man, was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
