Police in Mounds View are investigating after a man tried to lure a child into an SUV on Monday.

According to Mounds View PD, the attempted child luring happened around 1:15 p.m. near Irondale Road and Woodale Drive, with the driver of the SUV, described as an older white man, approaching a 10-year-old boy on rollerblades.

The man got out of the SUV, walked up to the boy and said: "Your mother asked me to pick you up."

The child didn't believe the man and refused to go with him, so the suspect got back into his vehicle and left.

Police further describe the suspect as an older man who is about 5'5'' with short, gray hair. He was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Mounds View PD at 763-717-4070.

The Mounds View incident is one of three reported child luring/abduction attempts in the Twin Cities since Friday.

The first occurrence happened Friday just before 1 p.m. when a 7-year-old girl was able to escape an abduction attempt in Fridley, with police saying a man pulled the girl into a car but she "was able to break away from the vehicle and flee on foot."

On Monday, a man in a brown conversion van with green curtains pulled up to two girls, ages 10 and 12, in Inver Grove Heights and told them to "get in the van" before he fled after the girls' stepfather opened a door to their residence.
