Brainerd grads surprised by letters from kindergarten, first-grade teachers
High school graduates in Brainerd are being reminded of where they first got their start thanks to their former kindergarten and first-grade teachers.
About 30 years ago, Linda Philp and Sharon Jendro began the tradition of sending personalized letters to graduating seniors they taught years earlier, WCCO reports.
Also included with the letters are class photographs and other early school memories.
Dalton Tibbets graduates this year and was a student of Philp's.
“Someone that remembers you and cares enough to come up with pictures, drawings and come to graduation night, not many teachers do that, so it’s very nice,” Tibbets told the television station.
Philip and Jendro retired in 2004. Their final class of students will graduate in 2016.
