Brainerd Police are asking for the public's help finding a stabbing suspect who is considered a danger to the public.

The search began Sunday morning, when authorities responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed outside an apartment in the downtown area, according to a Facebook update from the police department.

According to the Brainerd Dispatch, the 48-year-old victim had gone to visit a female acquaintance at an apartment on South Seventh Street, where the assailant "rushed" and attacked him before fleeing.

Police say officers recovered a knife matching the one described by the victim, who was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. There is no word on his current condition.

The police named 31-year-old Nathan Bernard Holden as the suspect, describing him as a black male standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds.

Brainerd police consider Holden a danger to the public, and advises anyone who sees him not to make contact and instead call 911 immediately.
