Brooklyn Center latest city to change rules in hopes of luring Surly brewery

City leaders are amending an ordinance to allow the city to issue taproom licenses, which would clear the way for Surly to build its planned $20 million restaurant and brewery within the city limits and serve beer on site. Minneapolis and St. Paul have already made similar changes in hopes of luring the brewer's business.

Fulton Brewing started in a south Minneapolis garage and has since moved its full-scale brewery to the North Loop near Target Field. KARE 11 reports the Harriet Brewing Company will also open a taproom this spring.
