Brooklyn Center Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest of a suspect who robbed and assaulted a woman on Monday.

Police say they responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of 54th Avenue North at 1:30 p.m., when they found a woman with a non-life-threatening head injury she suffered in the aggravated robbery.

It's believed that the woman was walking home near 54th Avenue North and Humboldt Avenue North when a man approached her and tried to take her purse.

During the struggle, he shot at the woman, stole her purse and fled in a black vehicle, the make and model of which is unknown.

The woman was able to walk home and call 911. It's unclear if her head injury was a result of the struggle or a gunshot wound.

"We are still trying to determine that through medical records and a re-interview with the victim," Brooklyn Center Commander Richard Gabler told Bring Me The News. "We found a shell casing on the street. The victim was able to walk three blocks home after this happened and was able to speak with officers. Generally someone with a gunshot wound wouldn’t be able to do this so we are looking to clear that up."
