Brrr ... It's cold out there, some areas could get up to 8 inches of snow

This one's for southern Minnesota.

It's a great day to stay bundled up inside, binge-watching your favorite shows and sipping cocoa. It's cold out there.

Northern parts of the state got the worst of the low temps. The National Weather Service says Bigfork saw -15 degrees Saturday morning.

It hasn't been quite as cold further south. The Twin Cities has a high of 13 degrees Saturday.

Light snow has already started to fall in the Twin Cities metro, though. It's expected to continue through the weekend, bringing up to 8 inches of snow to southern parts of the state.

The last significant snowfall hit northern parts of the state. Now, it's southern Minnesota's turn.

Central Minnesota cities – like Alexandria and Little Falls – are expected to get 3-4 inches of snow through Sunday.

A little further south – like Willmar, St. Cloud and the Twin Cities – 4-6 inches could fall.

Areas south of that could get 8 inches of snow this weekend.

This is quite a bit of snow, but it's all expected to fall pretty gradually. So we probably won't see whiteout conditions, mostly light to moderate snow throughout the weekend.

Then brace yourself, because next week is supposed to be even colder.

The Weather Channel says that Monday's low in the Twin Cities will be -3 degrees. By the following Sunday, the low will be -11.

Duluth will start out little colder with a low of -5 on Monday, hitting -9 by the next Sunday.
