Bundle up: Blast of cold air will be with us for the rest of the week

No doubt about it, winter still has an icy grip on Minnesota. We're going to see colder than normal temperatures, and wind chills well below zero for the next several days at least.

KSTP meteorologist Dave Dahl says we could see our coldest night of the season on Wednesday night. So far, the coldest overnight reading as been 11 below zero on Jan. 5.

The National Weather Service says the cold conditions will continue until the end of the week. After a short warmup on Friday, another "plunge" of Arctic air looks like it could head our way after that.

Just for comparison's sake, our normal high temperatures at this time of year are right around 30 degrees, and normal lows are around 13. We'll be well off the mark for several more days.

Of course, it could be worse – much, much worse. We could be in Boston.

One note that may brighten your day: Daylight Saving Time begins in less than three weeks! It'll be time to turn our clocks ahead one hour, and gain an extra hour of daylight in the evening, early on Sunday, March 8.
