Burglar smashes through brick wall of St. Paul store, steals $50,000 of merchandise

Police say a burglar broke through two feet of bricks and mortar to steal at least $50,000 of merchandise at the Sports Dome on West University Avenue in St. Paul early Tuesday morning. The Pioneer Press reports the thief or thieves took leather jackets, jeans, hats and other clothing items from the sporting goods store.

Officers first arrived on scene at 5:30 a.m. when they received a report of the security alarm going off at the store, but found no sign of forced entry on the doors at the front, according to KMSP. Hours later, the store's owner called police to report the burglary. The Star Tribune reports police believe the heist occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.

This isn't the first time a burglar broke into a store through a brick wall. Last month KPRC reported several suspects crashed a truck through the wall of a beauty store in Houston, making off with around $8,000 worth of hair extensions. Police suspect another set of burglars used the same strategy to break into a gun shop just outside Houston on Sunday, according KTRK.

Some burglars in Lancaster, Pennsylvania went even further in April. According to WGAL, police say suspects broke into one store at a strip mall, then smashed through its walls to break into neighboring stores.

Police don't have any suspects for the St. Paul burglary at this time, but the Lino Lakes Police Department tweeted their top suspect for the crime:
