A Brooklyn Park restaurant has been targeted by burglars just a few weeks after opened its doors.
A window to Angelea's Soul Food Kitchen was smashed and an undisclosed amount was taken from the restaurant at 7800 Zane Ave. N. after a break-in early Saturday morning.
Surveillance video shows two individuals, one of them wearing a Gophers hockey hoodie, breaking into the eatery at around 6:50 a.m.
The restaurant only opened its doors in January, having been launched by four siblings – Bobby, Angel, Dwayne, and Terence Evans – in honor of their late mother, Angelea.
In a Facebook post, the owners wrote: "While this is unfortunate, we are not unfamiliar with adversity.
'Our mother taught us the power of love and resilience in the face of challenge. In her honor we will continue to serve you the beautiful and delicious soul food you all have loved and enjoyed while we figure out next steps in this situation."
The restaurant was the subject of a glowing review in CityPages just last week. You can read it here.
