Cabela's Inc., a popular outdoors "destination retailer" based in Nebraska, plans to open an 85,000-square-foot store near Woodbury's Tamarack Village Shopping Center in the fall of 2014, the Pioneer Press reports. Construction on the project is expected to start this fall and employ roughly 185 full-time and part-time workers once its complete.

“Minnesota offers a tremendous array of outdoor pursuits and that has been highlighted by the commitment and loyalty of Cabela’s customers across the state,” CEO Tommy Millner said in a news release. “Cabela’s has had remarkable success in the East Grand Forks, Owatonna and Rogers locations and we expect similar results in Woodbury.”

"Woodbury is known as a regional shopping center, and this will add to that," former Woodbury Mayor Bill Hargis told the Star Tribune. "It definitely will solidify that."

"They'll provide a lot of jobs, and they're a good employer," added City Council Member Julie Ohs. "It should also draw more business to the surrounding businesses. The more the merrier."

The Business Journal notes Cabela's fourth Minnesota location will be about half the size of the megastores in Rodgers (185,000-square-feet) and Owatonna (150,000-square-feet), but slightly bigger than the 60,000-square-foot store in East Grand Forks.

The new store will feature "dynamic wildlife displays and trophy animal mounts," according to a news release. It will also include "a Boat Shop, Gun Library, aquarium, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop."
