Update - 11:45 a.m.
The standoff with an uncommunicative assault suspect in Cannon Falls has ended with the man's arrest.
In an 11:30 a.m. update, the Cannon Falls Police Department said a search warrant helped the emergency response and crisis negotiating teams make contact with the assault suspect, as he remained holed up in a multi-family building.
However, the man "would not comply with commands."
Authorities opted to use "less lethal options" to end the incident. The man was arrested "without significant injuries," and taken to a St. Cloud hospital for evaluation.

Authorities in Cannon Falls are actively working to end a standoff with a barricaded assault suspect.
Officers responding to a report of a second-degree assault around 5:09 a.m. Monday arrived to find the suspect still on the scene, the Cannon Falls Police Department said in a news release. But the suspect then fled on foot, entering a "multi-family building" where he lives.
Officers set up a perimeter and initially reached the suspect by phone, but he refused to come out. Eventually, he also stopped answering his phone, police said. The department also described the suspect as "armed."
Additional responders, including emergency response negotiators, are on the scene, with the police department saying it is trying to make contact once again with the suspect, to work toward "a peaceful and safe conclusion."
The police department did not provide the specific address of the ongoing situation.
