Two parked vehicles sit mangled in a driveway in south Minneapolis after a driver lost control and smashed into them Monday morning.

According to Minneapolis police, the crashed vehicles were reported at 8:34 a.m. at a. residence located on the corner of 42nd Ave. and Oakland Ave. S., though police believe the crash happened around 2:30 a.m.

Police say the driver of the red, two-door Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control on an icy patch, sending the vehicle airborne into the two parked vehicles. Tire tracks can be seen going up the sidewalk, leading directly to the parked vehicles, which are completely destroyed.

The occupants of the Nissan fled the area before anyone arrived, prompting police to now ask anyone with information to contact the MPD Homicide Unit by calling 612-673-2941, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
