A police chase involving a stolen vehicle ended with a spectacular crash in St. Louis Park early Friday morning.

Minnetonka police said officers gave chase when they saw a Subaru Forrester swerving, leaving the road and driving on the curb near I-394 and Hopkins Crossroad.

The driver fled when police attempted to stop him, sparking a 5-mile pursuit that led to the 8900 block of West 28th Street in St. Louis Park.

The Subaru reached a dead end, at which point it struck some "larges boulders, flipped and crashed into a garage."

The driver is a 23-year-old man from St. Paul, who was arrested on suspicion of DUI, fleeing an officer, driving a stolen vehicle and numerous outstanding warrants.

He somehow wasn't seriously injured in the crash, but did get treatment at Methodist Hospital, along with a toxicology screening.
