A 16-year-old driver suffered minor injuries after falling asleep at the wheel of a car.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, the teenager from Clearwater, Minnesota, was headed south on County Road 75 Thursday afternoon when he fell asleep at the wheel near 19th Ave. E. in Lynden Township.

The 2008 Nissan Altima went into the right-side ditch and hit a driveway approach, vaulting it approximately 150 feet through the air before hitting the ground and crashing into a tree.

The boy told deputies that he was returning home after work at about 4:15 p.m. when he fell asleep.
