Carjacking reported outside shopping center in Eden Prairie

One of the suspects reportedly displayed a weapon.

Police in Eden Prairie are investigating a carjacking outside the Tower Square shopping center Monday.

The incident was reported just after 9:20 p.m., with a man call 911 to say he had been robbed in the parking lot at the northeast corner of Flying Cloud Drive and Prairie Center Drive.

He told police he was loading groceries into his vehicle when two people approached and demand his keys.

One of the suspects then displayed a weapon, with the vehicle owner complying.

The pair stole the vehicle, which was later recovered in Minneapolis.

The victim was not injured.

The Twin Cities has seen a wave of carjackings over the past several months, with Minneapolis in reporting in December it had seen the number of such incidents triple compared to 2019.
