A Minnesota woman foiled a burglary at her home in Roseville Tuesday morning, even though she was hundreds of miles away.

The homeowner, who is spending the winter in southern Kansas, received an alert about 8 a.m. Tuesday from a home monitoring app on her iPhone that there was some motion inside her house back in Roseville, even though nobody was supposed to be there, FOX 9 news reports.

When she opened the app she saw on the live video feed an intruder inside her home, taking some of her things.

So she called police, and when officers arrived, they found a suspect hiding in a vehicle. He refused to come out, so they sent a police dog into the van and the animal bit the suspect, after which he surrendered, the Pioneer Press says.

The suspect, Kennis Ray Littleton Jr., 31, of St. Paul, was treated for the bite and then booked into the Ramsey County Jail.

Littleton was charged Wednesday with second-degree burglary, according to WCCO. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. He is on probation for a 2014 robbery conviction and has a history of burglary and robbery, WCCO notes.

The iPhone app, called Cloud Baby Monitor, costs $3.99. The homeowner told police the app, the cameras and a monitoring hub cost her less than $200, according to FOX 9.
