The chance for rain today has gone down, but scattered storms are still possible

There's no need to change your July 4th plans.

Good news for anyone planning to celebrate the Fourth of July outside today.

There's still a chance we'll see some scattered storms on Tuesday, but the probability for any has decreased, the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities says.

On Monday, the weather service tweeted there was about a 50 percent chance the southern part of the state would see rain at some point on Tuesday, but the map below shows the probability of that happening has gone down to 20-30 percent for most of the area.

Even though thunderstorms are not expected to be as widespread as previously forecast, officials are still urging people to pay attention to the forecast because things could change.

There's no need to change any plans for Tuesday, but "be aware that thunderstorms are still possible later today/this evening, especially in western/southern Minnesota," the weather service says. That could include an isolated severe storm that may produce large hail, gusty winds, and torrential rainfall, a hazardous weather outlook notes.
