It may only be the first full day of fall, but Minneapolis is already preparing for its annual holiday celebration.

Holidazzle, which changed from the decades-old Holidazzle Parade to the Holidazzle Village and Holiday Market, will be slightly different than it was last year, the Minneapolis Downtown Council announced Thursday.

“Our team is working hard to create an authentic holiday experience that best aligns with today’s downtown, and we have carefully crafted this year’s Holidazzle based on feedback we received last year," Leah Wong, vice president of events and marketing with the Minneapolis Downtown Council, said in the news release.

Not only will the event be free (admission price was a complaint last year), but organizers are combining last year's market and village into one destination known as Holidazzle, which they say will offer a community gathering place to celebrate winter, the release notes.

There will also be more opportunities to see winter fireworks, which was one of the biggest attractions at last year's village, organizers say.

The 2015 Holidazzle will run Thursdays through Sundays, starting the day after (Thanksgiving, Friday Nov. 27) through Sunday, Dec. 20.

The event is being held at Loring Park this year as construction continues on Nicollet Mall. Holidazzle will return to the mall next year, the release notes.

More details about the event are expected to be announced later this fall.
