The robbery suspect involved in a crash during a high-speed chase Monday that critically injured a man and his 1-year-old son has been charged.

WCCO reports 47-year-old Kevin Greene of Monticello faces several charges for allegedly robbing a pull tab worker at a Big Lake bar while drunk and high on cocaine, and fleeing police.

According to the criminal complaint, Green was playing pull tabs at Tootsies Tavern and went to the booth to collect his winnings.

When he approached employee, he indicated he had a gun in his waistband and grabbed a stack of cash from a drawer. FOX 9 says he took off with $460 before fleeing in an SUV.

Officers attempted to stop the SUV, but Green refused to pull over. The SUV cut through two residential yards before the vehicle was spotted going the wrong way on Broadway Avenue and broadsided a car carrying 28-year-old Travis Kolles and his young son Layton.

Both Kolles and his son were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition. FOX 9 reports Kolles sustained a traumatic brain injury, fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. Layton also suffers from a traumatic brain injury.

Green suffered non life-threatening injuries.

When police arrived on scene, officers smelled alcohol on Green and a preliminary breath test found he was over the legal limit. The suspect later admitted to snorting cocaine.

Greene has a prior drunk driving conviction on his record and does not have a valid driver's license, WCCO reports. He's in custody at the Wright County Jail.

A fund has been set up for Travis and Layton Kolles at the Bank of Elk River to help pay for medical expenses.

Kolles' sister said in a Facebook post Wednesday that Kolles opened his eyes and gave a thumbs up, KSTP reports.
