Charges: Brooklyn Park man molested girl over 100 times in 8 years

KSTP reports the man was a bus driver for Osseo schools.

A Brooklyn Park man is facing multiple criminal sexual conduct charges after a woman accused him of molesting him more than 100 times over an eight-year period.

According to a criminal complaint, Carl Arthur Broden, 65, is facing two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The victim told police that Broden molested her repeatedly, beginning when she was 14 years old until she was 22. The complaint states that the woman accused Broden of digitally penetrating her vagina and performing oral sex on her, noting that he would do so in his home, in his pickup and at hotels in Maple Grove and St. Cloud.

The complaint notes that the victim described cardboard cutouts that he would use to cover the windows of his truck to hide the assaults from potential witnesses.

She also stated to police that Broden told her, "if you ever go to the cops, I'll make your life a living hell."

In an interview with investigators, Broden admitted to taking pictures of the victim while she was nude and to the sexual acts she accused of him, although he said that none of it happened until she was 17 years old.

A search of his truck revealed the cardboard cutouts described by the victim.

Additionally, KSTP reports that Broden was a bus driver for ISD 279-Osseo Area Schools, as well as a volunteer in 2005 for children's programs at Discover Church in Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park Chief of Police Mark Bruley told KSTP that Broden has not been linked to any sexual assaults of minors in the school district, nor has he been accused of any wrongdoing at the church.

According to Hennepin County jail records, Broden was arrested on Dec. 26 and released Jan. 2. He is scheduled to appear in Hennepin County District Court  Jan. 31.
