An Eagan couple has been charged for allegedly creating cruel living conditions for their 15-year-old son.

According to a criminal complaint, 41-year-old Angela Danner and 44-year-old Gregory Danner removed the teen's bed and lights from his room where he was confined, with only a blanket and pillow he used to sleep on the floor.

The couple also installed video surveillance in the bedroom during his punishment of two and a half months.

The boy claims he was only allowed out to use the restroom, complete chores or undergo rigorous exercise. He was often required to do 1,500 to 2,000 pushups per day or run several miles in the cold. The complaint says the boy would have to hold a "wall-sit" position between twenty minutes to an hour.

The only fuel he had to run on was peanut butter sandwiches delivered by his sister each night.

The couple also severely limited the boy's showers and wouldn't allow him to clean his clothing, the document notes.

Angela and Gregory Danner are charged with child neglect and malicious punishment of a child.

Gregory Danner tells the Star Tribune that the charges are "greatly exaggerated," but admitted that he wanted to make the boy miserable.

"He didn't want to do anything around the house. He didn't want to do his chores. He didn't want to get up and go to school," Danner said. He also told the newspaper the teen could have left his room at anytime because the door wasn't locked.

The teen turned 16 years old in October and is currently living with his father.
