A Minneapolis man is expected to be charged for the stabbing of a couple in Mankato Thursday that left a woman dead.

The Mankato Free Press says the 24-year-old man is accused of killing the 20-year-old woman and wounding her husband, a 26-year-old man, at their home in the 1400 block of Second Avenue around 10:30 a.m. The victims' identities have not been released.

Police quickly tracked down the suspect at a nearby Holiday gas station after the injured man called 911. Police say the man had what appeared to be blood on his clothes and was treated for injuries before being taken to jail.

The Minneapolis man is an acquaintance of the couple for at least six months, according to police.

Charges of second-degree murder and assault will likely be filed on Friday afternoon, the newspaper reports.
