A 30-year-old Mankato woman has been charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her baby unattended at a bar in the Twin Cities.

The incident happened Sunday, May 19 at Cinema Grill & Outtakes Bar on the 2700 block of Winnetka Ave. N. in New Hope. Police were called on a report of an "extremely intoxicated woman who had left her baby unattended at the bar," the criminal complaint states.

Officers arrived and found that bar staff were taking care of the 6-month-old baby, whose mother, Alicyn Irene Desantis, had arrived at the bar after being kicked out of another "due to her intoxication."

The bar refused to serve Desantis any alcohol, and staff told police that she was "passing her baby around" to other intoxicated patrons, and at one point getting up and leaving while her baby was still at the bar. It's not clear if she left the bar completely or had gotten up and moved to a location inside the bar, away from her baby.

It was at that point that staff intervened, taking care of the baby by changing a "very full diaper" and feeding the baby a bottle that was in the woman's diaper bag.

Staff noted that the woman returned to the bar and didn't notice her baby was gone.

She was arrested and later admitted to being drunk and allowing people she didn't know to take her baby. She also told police that she has gone to alcohol treatment in the past.

The 6-month-old was allowed to go in the care of a family member who was called to the scene.
