A Florida cop who also works at schools and coaches wrestling has been arrested after sending lewd photos to a person he thought was a minor in Minnesota.
According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Louis J. Walsh, a Fort Lauderdale police officer, engaged in online sex chats with a person he believed was a child, also sending a nude photo of himself to the undercover detective in Minnesota.
Florida authorities were alerted to Walsh's behavior by the Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Taskforce, which confirmed to the Broward County Sheriff's Office that Walsh had engaged in at least two online sex chats with the detective he thought was a minor.
Walsh, who is charged with two counts of transmitting material harmful to a minor, works not only as an officer with the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department, but also as a security officer at a high school and a catholic school in Ft. Lauderdale, in addition to coaching high school wrestling.
Walsh was arrested Mar. 24. He appeared in court Thursday with the judge setting bond at $35,000 for each count, also ordering him to stay off of any devices with internet capabilities, according to Local 10 News in Florida.
