Charges: Man threatened to 'murder' pastor, his family and congregation

The suspect says he's a rapper who did it for entertainment and marketing value.

A man who's accused of threatening a pastor and his congregation said he's a rapper who did it for "entertainment and marketing value."

Adam Bailey, 34, was charged with stalking and terroristic threats, both felonies, in connection to emails prosecutors say he sent the pastor of Holy Christian Church in St. Paul, about wanting to hurt and kill the pastor, his family, and members of the congregation.

According to the criminal complaint:

The pastor, identified as WF in the criminal complaint, contacted police on Tuesday about "disturbing" and "racist" emails he'd been getting from Bailey, who is a former member of the church, but was told to stop coming because of "inappropriate behavior towards female congregants."

WF kept copies of the email, which are detailed in the criminal complaint. In them, Bailey describes wanting to hurt and "murder" WF, rape WF's daughter, and beat and "murder" members of the congregation.

WF had filed a harassment restraining order in Ramsey County on Feb. 7, but officials weren't able to track down Bailey to serve him a copy of it prior to the WF calling police on April 11.

Bailey was arrested, and when being interviewed by investigators he said he was a rapper and sent the emails for "entertainment and marketing value," adding he was building his ministry. Bailey said he has 50,000 followers and is very well known.

Investigators noted throughout the interview, Bailey "talked in circles and was difficult to understand."

If Bailey is convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine for the stalking charge and five years and/or $10,000 for the terroristic threats charge.
