A Robbinsdale man has been charged with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend at her home in Crystal on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Erik Eggleston, 38, has been charged with 2nd-degree murder in the killing of Nigar Mammadzada, 29, whom he's accused of shooting with a shotgun.
According to the criminal complaint, Mammadzada had dropped off her baby girl – who is also Eggleston's daughter – at a babysitter's and her mother at her job Thursday morning, and then returned to her home in the 3500 block of Welcome Avenue, where she had a home office.
When her mother returned home late afternoon, she found Mammadzada dead on the floor near her desk, having suffered two shotgun wounds.
Her mother immediately called 911 and told police she suspected Eggleston, saying her daughter had broken up with home and the previous night he'd been over to see their daughter, and seemed jealous that Mammadzada was getting ready to go out with another man.
Eggleston was found lying in front of a friend's house at 9 p.m. Thursday bleeding from cuts. He was treated at Mercy Hospital with wounds from an apparent suicide attempt.
A search by police of the Nissan Altima parked in the driveway of the friend's house saw a shotgun found inside, which had what looked like blood on the barrel. The car was on loan to Mammadzada from a car dealership.
