A Minnesota sheriff's deputy is facing criminal charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student.
According to a criminal complaint, the alleged sexual assault took place at Bagley High School on the final day of school in June 2017.
At the time, Neil H. Dolan, of Bagley, was a 29-year-old school resource officer who wore a uniform and duty belt with a service revolver.
The complaint was filed by a special agent with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, who was alerted to Dolan on Nov. 19, 2019 by Bagley Chief of Police Renee Benson, who expressed concern about Dolan's behavior towards a child.
The special agent spoke to the underage victim who said Dolan had sex with her in his office at Bagley High School. Dolan was 29 at the time of the alleged rape.
Dolan, now a deputy with the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, has been charged with one felony count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He is being held in the Clearwater County Jail and faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
