A St. Paul man who told police his 1-year-old liked smoking pot is charged with felony fifth-degree drug sale and child endangerment.

Richard Warren Martin, 31, was charged Friday along with his wife Molly Anne Martin, 31, after police came across a marijuana growing operation in a house in the 1800 block of Hawthorn Avenue East. The house is owned by Richard Martin's mother. The 1-year-old and a 10-year old lived there as well.

The Pioneer Press reports investigators learned of Richard Martin's activities in February. They found several marijuana plants, paraphernalia, scale, marijuana wax and dried marijuana in the basement operation.

"Richard Martin said he would rather give the infant weed than Tylenol. He said his 10-year-old hates marijuana," the complaint stated.

Molly Martin faces child endangerment charges and denies knowing about the pot operation, although police report the operation was in "plain sight," according to the Associated Press.

The complaint notes that investigators found Facebook pictures showing hash oil vaporizers and a pot pipe held up to the infant's mouth. A woman's hands were holding the pipe.

The couple was living in the house until April 9, and their whereabouts are unknown. A warrant has been issued for their arrest.
