Comedian and actor Chevy Chase has checked himself in to a rehab facility in Minnesota for a "tune-up."

TMZ reported Monday night that the 72-year-old actor, who is best known for his roles in the National Lampoon "Vacation" movies, is an in-patient at the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center for an alcohol-related problem.

It comes two years after his fellow comic actor Robin Williams checked in to Hazelden in Minnesota, about five weeks before his death in August 2014.

Hazelden Betty Ford has two treatment centers in the state, according to its website, in Plymouth and Center City.

A representative for the actor told TMZ that Chase "wants to be the best he can be" as he goes for a "tune-up" for his problem.

The Associated Press reports that Chase checked into a Betty Ford clinic in the 1980s to get help with an addiction to pain killers.

According to IMDB, he is due to appear in two upcoming films, "The Christmas Apprentice" and "Dog Years."

Alcoholism in America

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says that 16.3 million adults in America suffered from Alcohol Use Disorder in 2014, of whom 10.6 million were men.

Around 1.5 million adults received treatment at a specialized facility.

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation was created in 2014 via a merger of the Hazelden Foundation and the Betty Ford Center.

The Hazelden Foundation was set up in a farmhouse in Center City, Minnesota, in 1947 by recovering alcoholic Austin Ripley, who wanted to create a rehabilitation center for alcoholic priests, according to its website.
