A child has drowned in a northwestern Minnesota state park.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said that several people witnessed the incident at the Buffalo River State Park in Glyndon on Wednesday.
The child drowned just after 4 p.m., with lifeguards reportedly on duty at the time.
The identity and age of the victim has not yet been released.
The incident happened in the swimming area of the park, which is located 14 miles east of Moorhead.
The Fargo Forum reports that a Moorhead police summer youth program event was scheduled for the state park at the time, which included swimming.
It's not known however if the child was taking part in that program.
