Child hit by car and killed in Minnetonka identified

The boy was struck when he ran into the street on Sep. 20.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the boy who was hit by a vehicle and killed in Minnetonka last week. 

Three-year-old Haitham Jamal Yussuf died of blunt force injuries in the accident that happened Thursday, Sep. 20 near the intersection of Smetna Road and Feltl Road in Minnetonka. 

Police say the child "darted into traffic" when a vehicle driven by an 80-year-old man hit him. Sadly, Yussuf died at the scene. 

The driver of the vehicle that struck the boy was not impaired and cooperated with police.
