Child struck by car while walking home from school in Alexandria
A 11-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a car as he walked home from school.
Alexandria PD was called at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the child was struck as he crossed the road on Voyager Drive, near the Voyager Elementary School.
Police believe the boy was trying to cross a part of the street without a crosswalk.
He was taken by ambulance to Douglas County Hospital and later transferred to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. It's not clear as this stage what his condition is.
The Echo Press reports that the student was walking home from school when struck by the car.
A 23-year-old man in the car that hit the child cooperated with police.
The school day at Voyager Elementary School ends at 2:20 p.m.
