Clinton elevator fire prompts evacuation in western Minnesota
A massive fire at a grain elevator in a small western Minnesota town has forced an evacuation of the surrounding area, and the closure of roads going in and out of the area.
The fire is at the Clinton Co-Op Farmers Association elevator. An emergency alert was broadcast across television screens and mobile phones, instructing people to stay away from Clinton.
Roads around Clinton are closed, and anyone living within three blocks of the elevator were asked to evacuate immediately.
The city also asked Clinton residents to avoid using water.
"We ask that you limit your water usage & PLEASE (for everyone’s safety) stay away from the current fire situation going on. Thank you," the city posted on Facebook.
