Overnight closures on I-94 in the Twin Cities started Friday night and will continue for two weeks.
MnDOT says the closures are required because of an incident in August when a truck struck the 22nd Avenue pedestrian bridge between the Cedar Riverside and Seward neighborhoods back in August.
The same truck also struck the 25th Avenue road bridge over I-94, and also requires repairs.
It'll mean that I-94 will be closed starting 10 p.m. Saturday, with the freeway shutting between I-35W and Hwy. 280, and not re-opening till 4 p.m. Sunday.
Traffic will be detoured via I-35W, Hwy. 36 and I-35E.
And for anybody heading to Minneapolis from St. Paul, I-94 westbound will be closed overnight for the next two weeks.
The closures started Friday night between Hwy. 280 and I-35W, and will continue till Nov. 9 with nightly closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Drivers will be sent to I-35E, Hwy. 36 and I-35W.
