Community, restaurant rally to support Richfield family after house fire
A couple that lost many of their belongings in a fire three days after Christmas say they're "completely overwhelmed" by the outpouring of support they've received.
Tracy and Bill Jensen escaped the fire that they awoke to on the morning of Dec. 28, 2020, though their garage, cars and porch were already burning, according to a GoFundMe campaign.
The garage and vehicles were a complete loss, while smoke damaged their house, likely displacing them from their home for at least four months, the online fundraiser explains.
Not only has more than $12,000 been donated to the GoFundMe, a Richfield restaurant also had their backs by donating all of its profits Tuesday to the Jensens.
The owners of Fireside Foundry, located at 6736 Penn Ave. S., decided to help the Jensens even though their business has been under immense pressure due to pandemic-related restrictions for nearly a year, according to WCCO-TV.
"Wow. To say that we are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love that we have received from all of you is an understatement. Thank you all for your text messages, emails, phone calls, your generous donations, for feeding us and clothing us and just being here for us," the Jensens wrote.
The cause of the fire at their home hasn't been announced.
