Construction to begin on $65M Alexandria H.S.

Construction to begin on $39M North Loop project

Minneapolis-based Schafer Richardson is developing the six-story, 204-unit market rate apartment building in the North Loop area of Minneapolis' Warehouse District. The Business Journal reports Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson Construction Co. is set to start constructing the $39 million project dubbed "Third North" on Thursday. The entire project is estimated to cost up to $676 million and take about three years to complete.

Construction to begin on St. Paul's long-delayed Penfield project

The $62 million development will include 254 apartments above a 27,000-square-foot Lunds grocery store. It's going up on the site of the former downtown police and fire headquarters. The project was given the green-light last month after the city of St. Paul received a commitment from HUD for mortgage insurance.

Twin Cities construction activity leaps in September

There was a big jump in construction activity in the Twin Cities in September, the Business Journal reports, citing figures published by McGraw-Hill Construction. Nonresidential construction in the metro in September totaled $200 million, compared to just $90 million during the same month in 2011. Residential construction totaled $313 million, well above the $123 million in September 2011.

Movement begins for new Hastings bridge
