Authorities have identified the construction worker who fell from an Interstate 90 bridge on the west bank of the Mississippi River Wednesday morning.

WEAU reports that 19-year-old Logan Scott Goodell from Wheeler, WI fell about 45 feet from the Dresbach Bridge. Goodell was working for Ames Construction on Wednesday when he fell into a cofferdam.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Goodell's condition is unavailable. The sheriff's department told WEAU that he did have a helmet and safety gear on, but it "wasn't tied off."

He was trapped in a confined space below the bridge until a rescue boat could reach him.

The LaCrosse Tribune reports that Goodell worked full time for the company for about six months. His father was also working at the job site.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office is investigating, OSHA is also likely to be involved.
