Two Minnesotans were killed in separate accidents involving power lines earlier this week.
According to the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, dispatch was called at 8:45 a.m. Sunday with a report of a truck on fire and an unconscious man at 380 Street, near County Road 9 in Goodhue.
A man was operating a tractor/trailer when the vehicle's mechanical arm made contact with a power line. The contractor, identified as Joshua L. Leonard, 27, of Lake City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Leonard was an independent contractor working with Ag Partners Coop, the sheriff's release says.
A coroner will determine a cause of death and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be reviewing the workplace fatality.
The second fatal power line accident happened Monday morning in Evergreen Township, about 20 miles east of Detroit Lakes in northwest Minnesota.
According to the Becker County Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Dillon A. Wilson was helping pour cement at a home when a long pole he was using made contact with overhead power lines, causing a fatal electrical shock.
Paramedics arrived to the location but Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.
