Convicted sex offender found guilty of possessing child pornography

He was found in possession of a tablet with 3,000 images and videos on it.

A 50-year-old Minneapolis man, who is a registered sex offender, was found guilty of possessing child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday a federal jury convicted Gene Paul Schave of one count of possession of child pornography after a four-day trial.

Schave was convicted in 2010 for possessing child pornography. On Oct. 3, 2019, while he was out on supervised release, he was found to be in possession of an Asus tablet that had more than 3,000 images and videos that depicted the sexual abuse of minors.

Schave has not yet been sentenced.

The FBI, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Minneapolis Police Department investigated this case.
