Crane mishap disrupts light-rail service in downtown Minneapolis
Light-rail service in downtown Minneapolis was expected to be out most of the morning Thursday after a construction mishap.
Crews were trying to repair an overhead wire that was damaged when a crane struck it at about 8:30 a.m. as rush hour came to a close, the Star Tribune reports.
Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland told KARE 11 that a cable malfunction caused a crane to fall on a powerline just north of the Nicollet Mall Station at 5th and Marquette.
Buses replaced the trains for a stretch of the Hiawatha line downtown. Metro Transit was offering updates via Twitter.
