A motorcyclist was killed when he left the roadway in east-central Minnesota and crashed on Sunday night.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 9:05 p.m. on Sunrise Road in rural Harris, Chisago County. The sheriff's department believes the 51-year-old man riding the motorcycle was westbound on Sunrise Road when he crashed in the ditch near Jess Avenue.
Deputies arrived at the scene and found the man dead at the scene. HIs identity has not been released, pending notification of family members.
No further information has been provided.
According to the state's Office of Traffic Safety, there have been 167 deaths on Minnesota roads so far in 2021, which is well ahead of the 117 that were tracked at the same point in 2020.
