One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in east-central Minnesota Wednesday evening.

According to the State Patrol, a 45-year-old Pine City man, identified as Peter S. Mollhoff, was driving a BMW on 5th Ave. in Henriette around 6:45 p.m. when he attempted to cross Hwy. 107. The driver of a GMC Sierra who was southbound on Hwy. 107 couldn't stop before colliding with the BMW.

Mollhoff died in the crash. The driver of the GMC, a 53-year-old Milaca man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, with the Pine County Sheriff's Office saying the man was airlifted to a hospital due to serious injuries.

The sheriff's office thanked a local family for opening their doors for coffee and a place to warm up from the extremely cold weather.

"During last nights frigid cold it was necessary to cycle through personnel from the cold while extrications took place," the Pine County Sheriff's Office said.
