The family of a Hutchinson father-of-two are praying for a miracle after a crash left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Scott Schindler, 54, was hurt in a head-on crash near Stewart on Wednesday, when his Chevy Malibu was struck by a car that had veered across the center line.

He was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center for emergency surgery on his spine, however he was found to be paralyzed from the neck down.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by his two children, Brittany and Shaun, to help with his recovery, the surgeon who operated on him told him it "will take a miracle for him to walk again."

That said, it's not impossible, with the doctor ranking his chances as 1 out of 100.

"For those of you who know our dad, know that is very determined and will not give up!" his kids wrote.

The fundraiser for the father has almost reached $15,000 as of Saturday afternoon, with $10,000 in contributions being donated within 24 hours of it being set up on Thursday.

The Hutchinson Leader reports Schindler is a popular figure in the community, having played and coached football for the Tigers and working at the Johnson Brothers Liquor Company as a distributor.
