One person is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle crash in western Minnesota.

The accident happened Saturday at an intersection in La Grand Township, which is several miles west of Alexandria. Local authorities received a call about it at about 1:13 p.m., with initial reports saying that a vehicle had "rolled over and a person was trapped":

According to the Douglas County Sheriff, evidence so far suggests a GMC Yukon traveling west on County Road 8 pulled out into the intersection at County Road 40, into the path of an oncoming Dodge pickup.

The two vehicles collided and rolled into a ditch. The sheriff's office notes that the pickup was hauling a "large enclosed trailer."

The pickup's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while its passenger was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Yukon was not injured.

Authorities are withholding the name of the deceased pending family notification.

This was the fourth Minnesota road fatality of the weekend; the day before, three people were killed in as many crashes around the state.
