Motorists should expect delays or plan on taking an alternative route because of a crash that has closed eastbound Interstate 94 near St. Cloud Friday morning.
This from the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
"The eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 in St. Cloud are closed due to crash. The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The eastbound lanes will remain closed until further notice."
The crash happened east of St. Cloud near Opportunity Drive around 5:45 a.m., with MnDOT saying one lane of eastbound traffic had re-opened around 6:20 a.m.
It's unclear how many vehicles are involved in the crash.
Road conditions are slick Friday morning, with the interstate completely covered in snow in and around St. Cloud. Snow and freezing drizzle were forecast to move through the area overnight, and could affect road conditions in the Twin Cities Friday morning as well.
This is what the radar looks like at 7:15 a.m. The blue is indicative of snow while the pink could be a wintry mix or freezing drizzle. It is slowly moving towards the metro.
