Crews are at the scene of a significant building fire near the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.
Flames started appearing around 4:30 a.m. at the under construction apartment building opposite the Xcel Energy Center on West 7th and Kellogg.
As the blaze developed, it prompted the closure of several roads around the site as emergency services responded to the scene.
By 6 a.m., firefighters appeared to have the fire under control, but the Pioneer Press reports the building has collapsed.
There are not believed to be any injuries, though the investigation is still at an early stage.
The building is the $69 million St. Paul Gateway project by the Kaeding Development Group, which is intended to create 144 rental units and a Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
