Crews searching for missing boater in Minnesota River find a body

A 62-year-old man went missing on Monday morning.

Police searching for a boater who has been missing on the Minnesota River since Monday have found a body.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office announced that the body was found at 7:42 a.m. Thursday around 500 yards from where an unoccupied boat was found near Belle Plaine Monday morning.

Search teams have been looking for 62-year-old Bruce Copenhaver, of Watertown, since then, however police have not yet confirmed the body's identity.

"Sheriff Luke Hennen offers his sincere gratitude to partner agencies that assisted in this extensive search," the sheriff's office said.

Family said Copenhaver left home to go fishing between approximately 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Monday, with his 17-foot open boat found running and unoccupied near the shoreline about two-and-a-half hours later.

His Ford F-150 and boat trailer was found at a boat landing in Belle Plaine.
