A Crystal police officer involved in a police chase crashed into another vehicle, sending both drivers to the hospital Thursday night.
According to the Crystal Police Department, a 911 caller reported someone showed a shotgun and threatened him with it at 10:49 p.m. near the 6000 block of 56th Avenue North.
A Crystal officer was in the area and while responding to the scene saw a vehicle matching the description the caller gave.
Before police could initiate a traffic stop, the suspect fled from the officer at a "high rate of speed" and the officer pursued, with the chase going through Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. The suspect allegedly threw a shotgun from the vehicle amid the chase.
In the 5700 block of Camden Avenue in Brooklyn Center, the officer hit another vehicle that was on the road, police said. The officer and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect continued at a "high rate of speed" and was involved in a single-vehicle crash in the 5700 block of Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis.
The three people inside the suspect vehicle ran from the scene and were later located with the assistance of a Brooklyn Park K9 and a State Patrol helicopter.
The three suspects were taken to the hospital for treatment and then taken into custody.
A 32-year-old woman was arrested for a felony warrant, as well as probable cause fleeing police in a motor vehicle and on foot and illegal possession of a firearm. A 24-year-old man was arrested on probable cause fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and fleeing police on foot. The third suspect, a 29-year-old woman, is accused of fleeing police on foot.
