Daughter of MN Supreme Court Justice, Allina Health CEO found dead in Iowa
A 21-year-old woman found dead near the campus of Iowa State University on Friday morning has been identified as Minnesota native Olivia Chutich.
Chutich is the daughter of Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice, Margaret Chutich, and Allina Health CEO, Dr. Penny Wheeler. Chutich and Wheeler confirmed their daughter's death in a brief statement Friday night.
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that we confirm that Olivia Chutich, our beloved daughter, died in Ames, Iowa. Olivia was the light of our lives. We ask for privacy as we grieve this unimaginable loss. Thank you."
Ames Police Department reported that Chutich was found unconscious in a parking lot of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority on the 300 block of Ash Ave. around 9:50 a.m. Friday.
Chutich, a student at Iowa State University, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police canvassed the area and conducted interviews, though the department has not announced a cause of death for the 21-year-old. Police are asking anyone with information about Chutich's death to call 515-239-5312.
Iowa State University issued the following statement:
"The Iowa State community is saddened to learn of the death of one of our students. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time. ISU is cooperating with the Ames Police Department, which is leading the investigation. The university is providing support and resources for students who are impacted."
